What Better Day To Garden

This is our first year planting a Garden. Im hoping it goes well, but if not then it will at least be a great learning experience for us that will give us more unique time to bond as a family and teach our children the gospel principles. Thanks to the help of my my Grandma who is the " Master Gardener" she has been my coach and helper over the phone as I prepare the garden. Today was Earth day so I thought what better day to plant in the Garden. We are supposed to get some nice rain this weekend and Grandma says its time. So the kids and I spent the late afternoon carving a nice trench to plant our first set of seeds.

Tyler really enjoyed sprinkling the carrot seeds up and down the trench.
Trevor helped hammer in our cute carrot label Daddy hand crafted for us.
Now the trick will be to keep these seeds nice and damp until the sprout. I dont think that will be a problem cause ive got two of the cutest, curious, intrigued helpers any Gardner could ask for.
Teamwork is what makes this garden grow with love and care.

Perry and I have decided to incorporate growing a garden to teaching our kids the principles of the Gospel. We love how the effort to grow a healthy garden can be a great analogy for your own spiritual growth. So we have decided that each time we get out in our garden as a family we will leave with a spiritual message. Tonight our message came from Moses 2: 11-12. We all enjoy being together as a family and we hope that our sweet little garden will provide some yummy food this summer.

Good for you, Keri! Not only is it awesome that you are planting a garden but that you are incorporating the gospel into it. Did you know that you can have carrots in the winter. If you plant them in the fall they can grow even when there is snow on the ground. My sister, who is a really good gardener told me that just yesterday.
I love Tyler and Trevor's boots! How cute!
