Its been fun watching Tyler transition into a new phase of life. His cars, trains, dress up box has been taking second place lately. He become very interested in science, math, board games, The Atlas, Telling Time and reading. Once I saw his science project he made out of useless items I knew he was moving into a new phase with no tools to guide him. This week I have embraced his new desire to learn in a much bigger school like way. Hes been begging me every morning for a chore chart and lessons on how to read. How could I not embrace this change. Ive been busy all week stocking my house with New Educational Toys. Its interesting to me that with your first child you never really know what to expect. You just assume they are content with their desires and you wait until they show you they need more. Im grateful for Tyler's willingness to learn and I hope these new toys will help feed his appetite for learning. I wish his birthday didnt land after the school cut off because I know he would really benefit from Kindergarten this year. But since we have to wait another year I will just take it upon myself to help keep the fire alive.

Tylers Science project made out of random toys in the house. I was amazed at his precision on balancing, and geometric constructing.
Ive explained to him that after hes done with his chores and plays outside and exercises that he can earn 2 hours on the computer. This kid is obsessed with online learning games. I have to remind him periodically to stop and drink his water. LOL

Last but not least I introduced the "BOB Books" to him this week and with no hesitation he picked one of the stories and jumped on my lap. My eyes filled with "happy" tears as I sat there and listen to his sweet little voice slowly sound out each word and with no stopping finished his first book. A moment I will never forget. Its as though he had been starving for that opportunity and finally proved his aspirations to be a success. You could see the joy in his eyes. I love watching each of my children learn and move through their own unique phases. Now I watch Trevor as he races cars around the room and plays his heart out with Thomas the Train. And It brakes my heart to know that in no time he'll be aspiring the same dreams and desires. oh how I will love that day as well, but be sad to see each of my babies growing up so fast.

2 Little Monkeys:
Way to go, Tyler! He'll be WAY ahead of all the kids in his Kindergarten class. What are teh BOB books?
Carly misses it too....by 8 days, she is devastated!! I am determined to not let it stop her growth. It is going to be an interesting year for us. Her preschool teacher told us not to put her in preschool again because she will just be bored. I think I will do what you do and try the computer at home, and the books. Good luck :)
