Passover Dinner

Last night we held our 1st Passover Activity. We broke out the fancy china and made some delicious lamb for the first time. We wanted our kids this year especially Tyler to really understand the True meaning of Easter. As I studied and prepared for this activity I really learned a lot about the foods I was preparing and the meaning behind them each.

First ive gotta tell you something about this picture thats dear to my heart. As I was in the shed digging out my china I grabbed 4 small kid plates. As I was setting the table I realized what I had done. I grabbed one to many kid plates. At that moment my heart was reminded of our little angel we lost just recently. It still amazes me how early on we lost him, yet he remains so mighty in my heart. I will probably find myself doing these silly things forever. Which I find so precious.

We would take a sample of each item of food and discuss the meaning behind them. As the kids get older we can go into more depth and lengthy discussions. For tonight we kept it sweet and simple. And then while we ate our dinner us grownups spent more time talking about the doctrinal meanings. We all learned so much, and actually really enjoyed the food. Okay I'll take that back everyone except Trevor and Spencer enjoyed the foods.
Tyler really enjoyed learning about the Passover, and spent a lot of his dinner expressing his feelings and trying to soak it all in. That's my boy! Hes such a deep thinker kinda kid.Takes after his MaMa.

Trevor and Spencer on the other hand did not like either of the foods. They were so upset they didnt even eat my noodles or chicken legs. Poor kids.

It was one wild evening a little mixture of everything. We were trying to focus on Tyler's questions and expressions all awhile listening to two young toddlers either screaming at their food, throwing it on the floor, or tearing the table cloth off. But all in all it was a great night and I was glad Tyler got the most out of it and learned some new things about the passover. That was the reason I did it, was for him the desire he has to know more about the gospel and grow in his little testimony. It was worth the crazies that came with it. Funny how you kinda make things happen when your oldest is at the age to learn. Can't wait till next Easter to do it all over again. Though this week has been chaotic and busy. I remained focused spiritually. I want me boys to always know that the Gospel comes first in our home, no matter what circumstances we are in.

That is so sweet. What a special night. I have never thought of that. I really should do that next year. I struggle with how to tie it more into the real meaning.

You are a GREAT mom.
