Halloween Night

We started Halloween night off with a real spooky dinner. "Mummy Meat Loaf" and "Juice Filled Ice Cups". Ohhhhhh ahhhhhhhhh! The kids thought the Ice cube drinks were he coolest thing ever. The Mummy Meat Loaf was really fun to make as well. I found the recipe and idea in the family fun magazine and had to make it this year for the boys. Just shape your meat loaf into a mummy then once it is cooked let it sit for 3 minutes or so and then dress your mummy with Montery Jack Cheese or White Processed American Cheese. As the cooked meat starts melting the cheese you will begin to see your Mummy come together. Top with Olive eyes and place on a spooky Halloween Table for giggles and scares.

With much debate we finally decided to take the boys Trick-or-Treating. Im sure glad we did cause we all had a really good time. We went to the Governor's Mansion and the nearby streets. The weather couldnt have been any better. It was sweatshirt weather seriously. I didnt have to worry about the kids freezing or complaining of the cold. Tyler was fearless, Trevor was apprehensive to everything he encountered, but felt safe when holding Daddy's hands, and Spencer just sat in the wagon and took it all in. He didnt really express much. He was neither scared nor excited. This was his first year he really could grasp the concept of Trick-Or Treating so for him it was a new and exciting event.
(Tyler- Ghostbuster) (Trevor- Hot Dog) (Spencer- Yo Gabba Gabba)

I had to capture this sweet moment with Trevor. We were standing in line at the Governor's Mansion and all you could hear was Trevors sweet crackly voice chanting about how badly he wanted to go to a "Happy Place" It broke my heart to see him feel so trapped in such a Big Scary World. He is such a sweet sensitive little guy and just like his Mommy his little imagination doesnt do well in such a busy scary scene. I love this little man to pieces. what a sweetheart.

Just up the walk way to the Governor's Mansion Trevor noticed this cool Puppet show. He fell in love with this puppet and referred to this puppet show as his "Happy Place" Im so glad they made the mansion kid friendly for little ones like Trevor. So heres to Trevor's "Happy Place" he was so glad to have found it.

We got home and just when I thought I had not one more ounce of energy inside of me the kids reminded me of our "traditional" candy trading activity. So with all the energy I could muster up we all stayed up with one eye open sorting and trading out our candy. Such a great memory and past tradition to carry onto our boys.
