To Mark Ryans first month we decided to have professional pictures taken of our family. They were a bit pricey but well worth ever penny spent. We called up the owner of "Little People Portraits" (which is also a good friend of mine) and asked her if she would be willing to come snap pictures of our family in our home. She had just recently shut down her studio and was only doing outside pictures. Luckily she understood my concern about taking a little baby outside so she meet at our house instead. I have never taken pics inside our home and to be honest I was a little hesitant. Our house is very bear and not super fancy. Were in the process of slowly decorating the interior, but like I said its been a very slow process so I was a little worried about the options for a natural background. We spent most of our time in the baby's room and the living room. And actually found some great spots to take our pictures.
With me being an ex-photographer myself I know and am aware at how crucial it is to set a good tone in the home as you get ready for pictures. A good family picture doesn't necessarily come from perfectly combed hair, elegant, classy clothing or perfect straight laced smiles. It really comes from the atmosphere that is set within the photo session and between the family members. As I woke up early Saturday morning to prepare for our session I will have you know my main focus wasnt on my house being clean or my kids being perfectly dressed and proper. I pretty much gathered together a combination of comfortable clothing that would mix well together as a family and only combed the kids hair once. After the family was dressed I let it all go and worked on getting baby ready. I allowed myself to embrace the chaos that filled our home and focused "ONLY" on setting the right positive tone in our home and within our family. My kitchen was a disaster, my house was a mess, I kept my PJ bottoms on and the kids hair styles had been wrestled, but hey you know what at least we had a happy baby that was feed, changed and ready for this special day. It was a day set aside to capture this small moment in time as a young family with new little baby. And the main focus was to have this experience be remembered as a time of peace and happiness.
Mission Accomplished! Enjoy!
