Tyler's First Hockey Season

After our FREE hockey day Tyler was determined to play on the league. I just didn't have the money to sign him up so he decided to take it upon himself to find a way to raise his own money. He spoke with Bishop Lott and together they worked out a plan. He was able to sell enough Date passes to Bishops Discount Theaters ( Thank You Bishop, we are forever grateful for your support) and he and I also thought about racking some leaves for our neighbors (which Trevor helped with). All together he raised almost the correct amount of money to play, Daddy and I willingly paid for the extra hidden cost that fell upon us last minute such as the 50.00 association fee. We wanted him to always know and relate this experience to Gods Grace, that we are to do all we can and do our best and then our Heavenly Father will be the difference that is always needed. The grace of our Savior is his investment in each of us to be able to achieve anything we practice and work hard for. We were happy to help him learn this important lesson. He gladly paid his tithing and Bishop encouraged him to put  the portion we owed him towards his mission fund, so he did that. Though we are tight on money as well we received tender mercies of grace as his parents. With a pleading email to Tyler's Hockey director he waved his rental gear fee through a scholarship. So together as a family we did all we could and the rest was given to us by Heavenly Fathers grace. Pretty neat life lesson we all learned through this experience.

Tyler's first day of practice. He was so excited. We celebrated his hard work by a fun dinner afterward at Panda Express.
Trevor loved hunting for pucks, each one he found he would receive 4 Tootsie Rolls.
We spent some days playing street hockey in the garage. It made for great fun on the weekends and when it was to cold to go outside.
Let the games begin!!!!!
That's Tyler in the middle on the ground giving a good battle for the puck. Good Job Tyler!!!
We got to enjoy the Olympics this year during Hockey season. I really tried hard to organize a fun party with his hockey friends to watch the USA compete against Canada but unfortunately the game did not broadcast as it was suppose to, so we missed it. It's all good we made lemonade out of our lemons and still had a great time with our friends.
Tyler's team came in undefeated and this last game was the final win that would make them champions. They played hard and had a good time even though they tied.
Tyler's best friend Justin came out to support him in this last big game :)
The end of the season drew nearer sooner then Tyler wanted. He didn't want it to ever end. He would condition and practice three times a week without a single complaint. Always steady in his efforts and determination to succeed, grow in skills and finish each practice with a smile. Don't be fooled by this picture below, his mouth guard makes it hard to smile, so we call this face the "mean game face" hahah. He walked away this season with a fancy award and a higher knowledge and skill in the sport. He is now able to skate backwards, dribble the puck, stop with a sharp side edge and even skated away with a few goals. His speed got better and his attitude reminded positive. What a champ!!! He can not wait till next winter when he can play again. He has already started another fund to save and help w the costs. That's my boy!!!!
