Palm Sunday and Cleansing of the Temple

I was given a wonderful book by my Mother called " A Christ-Centered Easter". As I skimmed through the book I didnt know how I would find the time and energy to pull these lessons off each and everyday. And it was at that moment that I was reminded of my divine purpose as a Mother. To help raise up our children in righteousness. There is nothing more of a priority to me then teaching my kids the gospel of Jesus Christ. Why would I let me messy house, busy schedule, and rambunctious kids get in the way of that. Thats when I became determined. So there I sit Friday evening skimming through this wonderful book and picking bits and pieces of their lessons and arranging my weekly schedule around preparing, organizing, and teaching my family the TRUE meaning of Easter. So I sacrificed my lovely Sunday nap in preparing the "Palm Sunday Skit" and taking my oldest non napper kid on a scavenger hunt. Well worth the sacrifice.

Easter Scavenger Hunt:

Click here to see Tyler explain his little scavenger hunt.
Branch-Palm Branch placed along Jesus path as he rode a donkey into Jerusalem
Thorns-Crown of Thorns that was placed on the Saviors head
Wood-Cross to which Jesus was nailed
Nail-Jesus Died for us
Rock-The stone rolled away from the open tomb, where Jesus was found risen.

Palm Sunday Family Skit- Jesus' Triumphal Entery

I always find it amazing to think that the people had known before Jesus entered into Jerusalem that the Lord would return upon a donkey's back. This was such a thing to marvel for those people, since donkeys were the hardest animal to tame. it was unheard of to see anyone ride on the back of a donkey let alone see a donkey so calm and full of peace. They praised him shouting Hosanna for they knew he was the king.

Monday- Cleansing of the Temple

This morning during breakfast we discussed and read Matthew 21:12-18. We learned that as Jesus entered into his temple he saw the lack of respect that was held therein. He wanted his temple to be a house of prayer. We discussed how Jesus might feel if he spent a day with us in our home. Would we be living our lives in accordance to him? Would our house be clean and a place of refuge and love? I sure would hope so. We made commitment to carry a peaceful and patient tone with us throughout this week and live as if our Savior was here visiting with us. We also started our secret pals for the week. As we picked a name out of the hat, we made a commitment to love that person as the Savior would and find time to do acts of service for them.
