Fighting Our Own Personal Goliath

This morning we read the story of David and Goliath to the kids. We have tried to focus on relating the scripture stories to our modern lives. This one just hit home to me today. As we sat and talked about the fears others had towards Goliath we were able to relate that fear and doubt we have with our own unique struggles.

Yet David had complete faith and trust in the Lord to help him conquer such a great and mighty fear. As we took turns going around the breakfast table discussing our each and very own Goliaths, it felt good to know and teach our children the importance of Faith and Trust in our Heavenly Father and Savior in all things. If we turn to our Father in Heaven in prayer when facing our Goliaths he will give us the strength and courage to fight a good fight and win our battles just as little David did for the Israelite Army.

It made me question where my faith is, and how I can find more time on my knees when facing my own Goliaths in life. I know today ran a lot smoother then usual because I found more patience and love for my children by falling to my knees and placing those fears and challenges in his hands. I spoke more kindly and embraced more of the chaos with Faith that if I did my part and turned to my Savior in prayer that he would carry my burdens and make weak things great. Perry and I can not raise our boys in a gospel centered life if we dont allow our Savior to help carry the stress and weight and give us the tools to fight and conquer peace in our home. Though we have the stress of raising 3 very active little boys and the possibilities of delivering a physically challenged baby, these Goliaths in our lives can be conquered through our Saviors love and mercy. What peace that brings in this time of our lives. We dont have to fight this alone, we have our Heavenly Father and Savior to help carry those burdens and give us courage and strength. I cant believe how much we grow and learn in our daily scripture study as a family. Its truly a blessings in our lives.
