Today I dusted off my most favorite parenting book and decided to sit down with my two oldest boys and have them take the quiz inside. This book is amazing and gives you insight into each of your childrens "Love Languages". It helps me better understand how to connect with them in a way that really fits their needs. I was amazed at how well my two older boys understood and answered the questions in this quiz. And the most incredible part was that their "Love Language" was no surprise to me, it was just more of a confirmation if anything.
Tyler strongly favored and tied in two Love Languages
1. Acts of Service
2. Quality Time
Thats totally him and I knew it before dusting this book off this morning. He never really feels connected to his belongings or gifts. Hes a lot more tied and committed to service to others, and friendships within and outside of the home. Hes a very social, center of attention kinda kid. Its simply because he loves spending quality time with his family and friends and craves it and it truly is how he defines LOVE. He loves when I do something nice for him and I always catch him doing acts of service for me in return. Its just his nature to think of others and finds complete joy and fulfillment in friendships and positive relationships.
Today was payday/grocery shopping day, yet before committing to a long day of shopping I decided to focus more on Tyler and his needs. Shopping can wait another day, but Tyler cant. I turned to him with a big hug and asked him if there was a certain kind of date he would like to take Mommy on. His first response and request was for him and I to go to school early and eat Hot Lunch together. Something he has talked about for months now and I have ignored. Not today. I called up my Mom and without hesitation she glady came over and watched the two younger boys while Tyler and I went out to lunch at his school. Though our date only cost $2.50 the bond and time we spent together was worth all the gold in the world. I think we'll be doing this together as frequently as we can. It was a lot of fun. And I couldn't believe how healthy they feed the kids at our school. A veggie bar and 3 different healthy main menus. I was very impressed. The only complaint on Tylers end was that he was still starving after his meal. He may just end up being a "Cold-Lunch-Kind-of-Kid" so that I can fill up his lunch pale and make sure his tummy is extra full. But Hot Lunch is fun to experience every once and a while.

What a fun memory for both you and Tyler!
Thanks Jen yes it was a great day Im glad I set aside my normal chores and took time out for ty.
i'm glad to hear you liked the new lunch menus-we worked hard finding a company that could supply all the nutritional needs of the kids but make it still fun
he can have as much as he wants of the veggie and fruit bars
sounds fun
joanna
Yes Joanna thank you so much. as I sat and boserved the lunch menu I was a very proud parent at that time knowing that my kid can come to lunch at school and be feed veggies and fruit over crackers and cookies or fries. It was great peace ive worked hard to teach my kids to eat right and its good to know they can continue with their good eating habbits at school so thanks so much for your hard work in making that happen. i was surprised to see that the majority of the kids had chosen the healthy ham wrap and that their plates were loaded with veggies and fruit and they all enjoyed it. its was awesome to see. Im glad we can eat more veggies and fruit good to knw cause thats what tyler had wanted more of. thanks for informing me on that. ill let him have at it next time.
