High! High! Blood Pressure Lingers On- Not the Recovery I had Planed On

As you can see my blood pressure has spiked since having Ryan. Its suppose to be the other way around. The intended on delivering Ryan the day my blood pressure starting rising, in hopes to bring the pressure down and protect baby and I.

I came home from the hospital more swollen and more fat then when I arrived. In fact My whole wardrobe consists of my husbands clothes. Its been quit depressing to say the least. I cant wait to look like a lady again.

The beginning of the week we took Ryan into the pediatricians for his 1 week check up. He looks great, very small sign of jaundice so no special care there. He only lost 3 oz. since birth and he is eating and sleeping like an angel. He eats every 4-6 hours and sleeps 4-6 hours. Like my friend Kate said he is quite the masterpiece for sure. Sad that it took me 4 kids later to figure breastfeeding out, but I am enjoying every pain free moment I get with my last little baby. Its terrific. We make a great team together Ryan and I.

Back to the pediatrician. He noticed how swollen I was and decided to check my blood pressure since he knew I was battling preeclampsia. Indeed the pressure was high, I think if I remember it was 164/98. He insisted on my calling my OB right away and informing her.

The following morning I had an appt to see the my OB at 9:30am. Lets not mention Ryan pulled an all nighter that night before, must have been the 10 chocolate cupcakes I ate throughout the day. Darn it... no more chocolate for me. I got all the kids dressed for school, and baby in the car seat. He had just woken up as MiMi arrived to take me to the docs. Once again him being an angel baby he sucked on his paci the whole trip over, such a patient little guy. I show up to find out the appt was scheduled for G-Ville. I fell into tears over utter exhaustion. Luckily another OB saw me later that afternoon. My pressure had gone up to 175/101 in just a days period. They had become very concerned. They noticed my sausage toes and legs, and also my incision that was 3x as swollen as it should be. Now we had 2 issues to address. Super scary high blood pressure that could cause a seizure and fluid under my incision. Geeeeez does the drama ever end. Ugggg!

They put me on blood pressure medicine and drew some lab work to see how the preeclampsia was doing. Labs came back great the numbers actually decreased since Ryans birth, so no need to be hospitalized. I went home and have been taking blood pressure medicine this whole week and logging down my daily blood pressures morning and night. The swelling starting going down and so did my blood pressure for a day or two. By friday, today the pressure has gone back up to 172/103. I called the doc first thing this morning to inform her of my log records and that this mornings reading was very concerning to me. Funny thing is I have very few symptoms. Just a little light headed and have had a couple more then normal spurts of heart valve pain which is common for me, I have valve prolapse.

I have not yet heard from the doctor on what the next step is, but I am extremely grateful to not have an abundance of underline symptoms. I have the Priesthood to thank for that. Before Ryan was born Perry gave me a blessing. In this blessing he stated that my recovery may be a little hard on me but to always remember to turn to my Father in Heaven for comfort and peace. That though it may be a rough road I will be protected and remain healthy. So far I can testify that the reason Docs are so stumped on my lack of symptoms is because Heavenly Father can create miracles far greater then any scientific reason or theory doctors may rely on. Worrying doesnt help the situation. I believe Ill be okay, just a little scary that's all.

Through this recovery I have gained a better appreciation behind tying my tubes. I know I wont be having anymore babies, but this situation has reminded me daily that being pregnant is just to hard on my body anymore. What a blessing to have been in a situation where Ryan was breech and going in for the C-Section allowed for an easy approach to tying my tubes. Interesting how everything fits together if you rely on the promptings of the spirit.

It's normal to swell pretty bad after a c-section. But another cause is stress. You have 4 boys at home, a dog, a house to take care of, a brand new baby. You need to find time to relax. I'm sure your mom will help out, so you can have an hour or 2 by yourself (with Ryan of course), but you have to take the time or it wont get any better.

I hope you feel better soon.
