Tonight I stood above the School Board to address my feelings on the possibilities of exercising school uniforms next year in Tyler Elementary school. A bunch of my good friends all went tonight as well. Some spoke their opinion and some didnt but we all went together to support one another. We were like this little small army of Mormon Moms, it was neat to see that unity. I am strongly against the idea of school uniforms and was excited to state my opinion. I was the scariest thing Ive done in a long time.
How did I do? I felt very tongue tied. I have never gone to one of these city meetings so I had no idea what to expect. I had all these feelings nestled inside me ready to express, but I clammed up and forgot half of my speech. It was an embarrassment, but a good learning experience for me as a fresh new school mom. It is probably better for me to come prepared with a written testimonial then to wing it. Phew glad thats over with.
Get this the worst part was after my pointless comment to the school board, I went to sit down and guess who taps me on my shoulder to hold my little baby. THE PRINCIPAL!!!!! Yikes she heard every word I said. Thats silly for me to be surprised, I should have know she would be there. Not that it matters because I do have the right to my opinion, but the way that I worded myself made my comment seem very irrelevant. Oh well, on the bright side at least I braved the school board and even though I made a fool of myself at least I had the courage to do so on live TV.

honestly we aren't that scary and you did just fine-thanks for coming
ahhh thanks Joanna, I just felt realy unprepared. I was just giving my input on a more softer motherly side of things. I didnt have the facts, but I had the emotions. I reminded myself that if Laurel can get up then I can too, thats why they teach you at such an early age in primary to public speak by giving church talks, so I figued this would be a breeze but it was very nerving being up in front of all you big wigs. LOL
