Its been a long while since Ive updated on Tyler as an individual. He is now 6 years old and is becoming quit the gentlemen. This week as we were driving home from school I asked how his day was. He told me the sweetest story. He told me about his friend Mia in his class. Mia was running out to recess with the rest of the class when she tripped over her feet and fell down. The boy behind her kept running and plowed over her with a accidental kick to the face and stomach. Of course all the kids were to excited about recess to stop and notice poor Mia lying on the groud accept for Tyler. Tyler proceeded to tell me that he stopped in his tracks turned around and ran to help her get up. He brushed off her face and dirty knees and helped walk her over to the wall. He gently told her to wait there while he ran to get the dutie. Dutie came over and took Mia to the nurse where Mia was able to rest and put ice on her scrapes and bruises. Once he finished the story I pulled over the car and gave my son the biggest hug a Mother could give. I placed my hand on his warm flush cheek and told him how proud I was of him and the fine young boy he is becoming. I then wiped away happy tears from my eyes as we finished our drive home. Tyler turns and asks me why I was crying. My response to him was because it fills Mommy's heart with joy and happiness to know that when I am not near him that he has a natural ability to comfort and help others in need. What kindergarten kid would do such a selfless act, that would be Tyler. It brings tears to my eyes to know that all the hard work and devotion we have put forth to teaching our boys to be kind and caring is paying off. And as I volunteered this week in Tylers computer class I noticed Mia running to him and holding his hand as he gently helped her in her seat and got her computer up and running. You could tell she had trust in Tyler and that she felt cared for by him. It was very sweet.
This story doesn't surprise me one bit, Tyler has always been a kid with a heart of gold.
