Summer Kick-Off-Party

Today was Tyler's last day of school. He is now an official 1st grader. He loves reminding me of that. We drove home that day with Alice Cooper's song "Schools Out" blasting on the radio...windows rolled down and air guitars in action. I just had to share that tradition with my kids. I would jam to that song as well with my friends on our last day of school and I remember how fun it was.

I spent time volunteering during the schools field day. My friend Sarah and I ran the musical chairs station and had a lot of fun together with the kids. It was fun to spend that last day of school with Tyler. When we got home we had lots to do to prepare for our Summer Kick-Off-Party. We created an outdoor movie theme to the party and had lots of fun roasting marshmallows and making S'mores. After telling ghost stories by the fire we settled into the garage to watched the movie " Despicable Me". We borrowed my sisters movie projector and made the garage like an outdoor movie theatre. We laughed, giggled and ate LOTS of popcorn. It was a really fun night and very low key. Baby slept like an angel through the whole night and Perry and I had fun playing with the kids and hosting the party. We managed to throw this party on a dime. The only thing we bought was the movie rental, popcorn holders, and supplies for the S'mores, all under 15.00. Everything else I was able to scrounge out of our pantry and party closet. Just goes to show having fun doesn't have to be super expensive, just takes a lot of thought and organization.
