The New Kids on the Block

First Day of School in hour new town, Idaho Falls ID. The boys have mixed feeling this morning. I little bit of excitement mixed with a lot of uncertainty . My prayers are that they both have fun and feel welcomed. It's never easy being the new kid on the block.

Tyler 2nd Grade

Trevor Kindergarten

Trevor's with his Kindergarten teacher  Mrs. Dalimore
Tyler with his 2nd Grade teacher Mrs. Liken

It was very brave of Tyler to shine that smile big and bright at a time when he feels so alone and new. Waiting for morning bell to run he waits quitly in line.
Each day Tyler's teacher sends a report home with homework assignments and a behavior score. Before class I expressed to Mrs. Liken that Tyler is a star child and a role model to others. That there hasnt been a teacher that doesnt love him. I also mentioned his joy in leading others. I love what she wrote on his daily report for his first day. It made me smile. I'm so proud of Tyler for showing his true colors on his first day in his new school.
Lots of new changes today. After school was his first Cub Scout meeting. He wanted to stay on task and get his homework done first so he raced home, had a snack, got dressed in his uniform and finished his homework before leaving. Good Job Tyler, looking sharp as ever.

Unfortunately scouts didn't go as well as school did. He had a hard time opening up with the new kids in his Den. It broke my heart to see him come home feeling defeated. I assured him that fitting in takes time and that it takes constant effort on both your part and their part. I promised him that if he prayed for strength and did his best to be friendly and social that The Lord would bless him for his efforts and that in time he would conquer this. Nothing pulls at a Mothers heart worse then seeing your child suffer and feel lonely. No one said moving would be easy, but in time it will be worth it I have faith.

Trevor on the other hand made 6 new friends right off the bat. Being a kindergartener is pretty easy living. I'm glad Trevor had such a great day and can't sleep the night away with excitement for the next day.
