Last weekend we took our short but sweet summer vacation to Big Trees State Park. Its about 3 hours past Markliville. We first ate Breakfast at I.H.O.P. and filled our tummy before hitting the road. The kids all crashed about 10 minutes into the trip which was nice for us. After about an hour on this terrible road full of switchbacks, we had to pull over and give our tummy's a rest. We stopped at a really nice little lake called Start Lake. Tyler played in the water and caught minos while Mommy fed baby Spencer.
When we finally arrived at Big Trees we were surprised to find out it was family day. How perfect was that. They had all kinds of crafts and games for the kids. It was so much fun. The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast. Tyler couldnt believe his eyes when we went on our big tree hike. We bought him a little telescope thing and he couldnt stop staring at the big trees. I am glad we pushed ourselves to do this with 3 kids because it was well worth the effort of getting there. It was so nice to be out in the nice fresh air and just be together as a family. The kids got to play in the dirt and get as dirty and as messy as they wanted to. It was a blast. We love the outdoors and this was a perfect vacation for our family. Everyone had smiles on their faces at the end of the day. Even baby Spencer was full of smiles.
After a long, fun, and dirty day we headed to Jackson to get some dinner before heading home. When we arrived to McDonalds (kids choice). Poeple looked at the kids like they were orphan babies. they were so dirty. We totally felt out of place. It was funny. The drive home was long and Perry and I were so tired. We took the longer route home so I woulnt get sick again. I was not fond of those switchbacks. Trevor had a hard time with the ride home. He just wanted to be in his bed. The only thing that made him happy was for me to turn around and hold his hand in the car. It was precious.
We had so much fun and we plan on going again next year to Big Trees on family day.

5 Little Monkeys:
I love Big Trees, I grew up not too far from there and have so many good memories of that place. In fact, my grandparents just live down the road a little ways from the park. But believe me when I say you shouldn't feel bad about going into McDonald's all dirty, most people who live in Jackson look like that all the time anyways!
Looks like fun. I've never heard of Big Trees. BUT, I HAVE been on that road.... the switchbacks are so bad, you can only go like 20 mph! We went to Candy Rock Park with the branch once.. I know Norvy was there. Were you?
Whatcho do to your kids... They look like you conked them over the head with a mallot to get them to sleep!!! LOL. :) Too much fun!! I have never heard of the place. Sounds awesome... Don't you love seeing the kids smiling and having so much fun? And they are all getting so big. I thought Spencer would have a little more you in him, but the older he get's the more Perry comes out (He can definantly NOT claim they are someone elses kids that is for sure - not that he ever would though!!). Man I am so glad you guys had so much fun.
That looks like so much fun don't you love the look on your kids faces when they are getting to do something fun? It makes all of the hassle well worth it.
I've never eevn heard of that place! We might have to check it out. I was laughing abouyt your comment that you didn't fit in at McDonald's because you were too dirty. HA HA! I highly doubt that!
